REDHEAD One of the most famous cars to have run at the Bonneville Speed Week and El Mirage Dry Lake. With a variety of owners, drivers and engines it competed for thirty years between 1962 and 1991. During this time it set over a dozen records in various classes, running over 331mph in 1966.
As one of the most beautiful Bonneville racers, it has been much photographed. Apart from a cockpit canopy change, it’s bodywork only underwent minor changes over the years as different engines caused swellings to morph and move on the hood and it needed different exhausts. We have chosen the 1987 version simply because, in our view, this was when it looked its very best. Bill Lattin drove this version to a 212.040 xxf/gs class record.
