Porsche 962C Busby Dauer Racing Schöller 2° Supercup Norisring 1989

In 1987 Jochen Dauer had started his Group C career with a Porsche 962C chassis #112 he had acquired from John Fitzpatrick. Dauer Racing afforded two more Porsche 962C later: 962-133 in 1988 and 962-141 in 1989. Most of the time team owner Jochen Dauer was behind the wheel himself but if there was a promising sponsor deal at hand the second car was regularly handed to prominent drivers. #141 was mainly seen in its TicTac livery while #133 was converted from its former Victor design for the 1989 Norisring 200 Miles. Franconian Dauer had made a joint venture deal with Jim Busby who brought over US sponsor Milwaukee Miller brewery to Nuremberg.

With additional funds from Nuremberg ice cream company Schöller – a long time supporter of the Norisring event – Dauer was able to contract John Andretti for the 200 Miles of Nuremberg, round 3 of the 1989 Supercup series. The nephew of former F1 World Champion Mario Andretti seemed to enjoy the city circuit and qualified 3rd for the race. Only beaten by Frank Jelinski’s Joest Porsche the American finished second in the race while team owner Dauer retired his own car without fuel. The Norisring race was the best result for Porsche 962-133 in its short racing career which was ended later in 1989 with accidents at Donington and Brands Hatch.
