Raceland Gold Edition made by Spark. Exclusive model.

The German DRM Championship is still celebrated today for its spectacular Group 5 cars. Who doesn't remember the Porsche 935, Ford Zakspeed Turbo Capri, BMW 320 or Lancia Beta Montecarlo? However, if you look further back in the results lists of this period, you will find many courageous private projects that have been completely forgotten and of which there are hardly any pictures or documents left today. Günther Knippschild's widebody Opel Kadett C GT/E in Group 5 specification is one such example. We had already released the version of the first round at Zolder 1981. It sold out so quickly that too many fans were left empty-handed.

The small private team from near Heidelberg had quite some trouble to get the widebody coupe running and even withdrew for a few races. At the DRM support race as part of the German Formula 1 GP at Hockenheim, the Opel appeared in a new design, but did not qualify for the race. It was not until the end of August in Zolder that the team was rewarded with 12th position for its tireless efforts, which still deserve the greatest respect today, as the era of the spectacular Group 5 monster was over after a crazy cost explosion at the end of 1981. The unique Opel disappeared into motorsport history, from which we were happy to bring it back.
