Once a year, the Eifel turns upside down: the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring transforms the
Green Hell into a motorsport festival of XXL proportions. Tens of thousands of fans camping in
the Eifel forests celebrate a rustic mega-party dedicated to motorsport – while right next
door, countless thrilling duels unfold as world stars meet young talents, privateers and
seasoned professionals. And, of course, the stage for this spectacle is unique in itself: the
most beautiful and longest racetrack in the world – the 25.378-km Nürburgring-Nordschleife.
It’s only natural that this extraordinary setting produces legendary races – as it did once again
at the 53rd running of the classic. One hour after the start, a power outage in race control
and the pit lane caused a one-hour interruption – giving spectators a second start phase with
all its suspense. What followed was a dramatic chase that repeatedly claimed cars from the
leading group, before the Manthey Porsche pole-sitters and the Rowe Racing BMW found
themselves in a direct battle for the lead. The duel was ultimately decided by a time penalty
for the “Grello” following a collision: penalty for Manthey, victory for Rowe.
This dramatic and hotly debated outcome is detailed in the official 24h yearbook – along with
countless other facets of this spectacular race. Stunning photography brings every one of the
more than 130 starters back to life. Together with complete class coverage, support-race
features and a comprehensive statistics section, this book is the perfect reference for any
true 24h fan.
