After the FIA had ended the Group C era late in 1990 they wanted to attract works and engine suppliers to the new World Sports Car Championship of 1991 by changing the rules to 3.5 litre normally aspirated engines as used in F1. Franz Konrad was one of the few private brave adventurers to join the risky game. The new design with Lamborghini V12 engine gave its debut at France but disappeared after the end of the season from the WSC.
