Niki Lauda is one of the loudest critics of the old Nordschleife circuit of the Nürburgring. The old track simply does not offer enough safety equipment and exit zones for the fast Formula 1 cars of 1975. Still the Austrian sets a pole position with an incredible lap time of less than 7 minutes. For nine laps he is leading the race through the Green Hell at extremely high summer temperatures until his tyres are so worn-out that he has to enter the Ferrari pit. Back on track he fights back from 5th place and with just two laps to go overtakes Tom Pryce's Shadow to finish 3rd at this German GP. An important podium finish on the way to his first World Championship title. The dangerous hedgehopping at the Ring paid for Niki that year.
