Certainly Mick Schumacher had imagined his debut season in the top class of motorsport differently. A hopelessly inferior car, a difficult teammate and high pressure from the team boss led to poor results, a high accident rate and numerous public animosities. In the 2022 season, everything was supposed to be better with the completely new developed HAAS VF-22. In addition, after the start of the Russian offensive war in the Ukraine, the relationship with the sponsor URALKALI and thus also with the driver Nikita Mazepin had been terminated. With Magnussen, Schumacher now had a more friendly team-mate with F1 experience.
At the first Grand Prix of the new season in Bahrain, Mick just missed the points and finished the race in 11th place, his best result in Formula 1 so far. An 8th place in England and a 6th place at the Austrian Grand Prix should follow. At the end of the season, HAAS nevertheless chose the more experienced Nico Hülkenberg as the second driver beside Kevin Magnussen. The greatest German Formula 1 hope has to bridge the current season as a reserve driver for Mercedes and McLaren.
