The gigantic number of 235,000 fans made the pilgrimage to the Nürburgring 24 Hours on the Nordschleife in 2023 in perfect weather. The fact that the Eifel region welcomed the race in best weather conditions not only pleased the fans on the many campgrounds around the track, but also the drivers. The top teams in particular brought the power of their GT3 cars with slick tires onto the track and set new lap records. The fabulous lap time set by Daniel Keilwitz in the Rinaldi Ferrari 296 GT3 at the Green Hell in 8:08.006 minutes, showed that the Italians could be right at the front this time. The Frikadelli Ferrari 296 GT3 qualified fourth on the grid.
Earl Bamber, Nick Catsburg, David Pittard and Felipe Fernandez Laser kept the new Italian GT3, privately entered by Klaus Abbelen, in the top five from the very beginning. From the middle of the race, a thrilling duel developed between the #30 Ferrari and the fastest Rowe-BMW with the #98. After 24 hours the Italian Red had rocked the Green Hell with 27 seconds in the lead and the Frikadelli Team celebrated their first overall victory, the first one for a private team in over 20 years and the first for a non-German manufacturer. It was a sensational success, and one that the Frikadelli squad probably deserved with all their hearts.
