Dan Gurney's decision to leave Brabham to found Anglo American Racers and realize his own F1 designs led to one of the most beautiful Formula 1 cars of the 1960s. After Gurney had replaced the Climax engines with the more powerful Weslake V12 units the Eagle T1G celebrated two highlights in the 1967 F1 season despite numerous technical retirements: the sensational victory at the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa was later followed by a podium finish at Mosport.
