Raceland Gold Edition made by Spark. Exclusive model.

The World Sportscar Championship of 1970 was dominated by the 5-litre works prototypes of Porsche, Ferrari and Lola. The small manufacturers and private entries were driven out of the grids with no chance of an overall victory. FIA reacted by establishing a European Sportscar Championship in 1970 dedicated to prototypes with 2-litre engines thus attracting small teams and constructors. These 2000cc grids were headed by Abarth, Chevron and Lola completed by privately entered Porsche 906, 907 and 910. The new 1970 championship consisted of a total of nine rounds held all over Europe with race distances of 300 to 500 km.

Austrian Dieter Quester had started the season in a works Abarth 2000 SP but soon replaced the Abarth cockpit with the BMW supported Chevron B16 BMW 2-litre entered and prepared by BMW tuner Hans-Peter Koepchen. The Chevron retired with electric trouble in the first heat of the Hockenheim Südwest Pokal weekend but Quester finished 3rd in race 2 behind later champion Joakim Bonnier in a Lola T210 and Brian Redman in a Chevron B16 Cosworth. The short career of this BMW sports prototype project ended soon after a practice accident at the Nürburgring 500 km but the 2000cc 4-in-line engine headed for a big career in touring cars.
