Raceland Gold Edition made by Spark. Exclusive model.
The 24th edition of the traditional Nürburgring 1000 km race was part of the World Championship for Makes in 1978. While numerous private Porsche 935 battled for an overall victory in division 1, a pack of BMW 320 dominated the grid of the small division. Some of the Munich 2-litre cars had been entered as national teams supported by the BMW importers and the Munich factory. After the cockpit of the BMW Sweden car was already occupied Ronnie Peterson was contracted by BMW UK to join Dieter Quester who represented Austria. Uniting both flags on the car was left to master of colours Walter Maurer, well-known for painting several BMW Art Cars in those days.
Dieter Quester had brought financial backing from Austrian brewers Gösser and the Essen Faltz-Alpina crew was responsible for preparing and running the car. The endurance race at the Nordschleife had been split into two heats. Quester/Peterson finished 5th in heat 2 leading to a 7th position overall right behind team mates Höttinger/Stuck in their black Lumitas BMW 320.
