The Italian Passion

After the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, which is named after the famous winding Stelvio Pass in Italy, Alfa Romeo presented its first SUV with hybrid technology, the Tonale, in mid-June 2022. Here, too, the name was inspired by an Italian mountain pass road, the spectacular Tonale north of Lake Garda. The presentation of the first electrified sporty Alfa Romeo SUV in the showrooms of the European dealers took place on the weekend of the 2022 Formula 1 GP in Azerbaijan. For this very special weekend Centro Stile Alfa Romeo created a special livery for the two C42 F1s using the green of the legendary Alfa Romeo Montreal, resulting in the colours of the Italian flag on the Formula 1 car.

The two cars of Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou were real eye-catchers on the street circuit of Baku. An Alfa Romeo Formula 1 with Ferrari engine in Italian colours: more Italian Passion is hard to imagine. The two Alfa Romeo drivers started the race in Azerbaijan from grid positions 14 and 15. The Chinese drove a strong race and was in 10th position behind Sebastian Vettel’s Aston Martin when the Ferrari engine blew on the 23rd lap. Valtteri Bottas failed to finish in the points, one lap down and in 11th place. More than the race, therefore, the spectacular livery will surely remain in the memories of Formula 1 fans and collectors alike.
